Ahhh... Running In Paradise, is there a more suiting name for my new blog??? I think not!!! The name called to me like a 41 street walker during one of my long runs a few weeks ago. Don't think this was an easy decision for me. I had many other titles to go with..."Run On Fat Lad", or "ROFL" for short... "Run Fat Boy Run", this one had copyright issues, and my favorite..."FAT" short for "Find a Toilet", which more often than not has been an issue for me while on the run.
Although I had these creative as hell names, Running in Paradise is the most fitting for many reasons. First of all, look at the photo at the top of this blog. That is an actual photo of where I finish the majority of my long runs. I have ran other places Sacramento, Philly, Central Park to name a few. But, in my opinion, nothing is more rewarding than finishing a long run along this stretch of beach early in the morning. It is my ultimate guilty pleasure and is truly when I feel my best.
My second reason for the title is two fold. First, if you really know me I'm obsessed with the number three. So a three word title is what it had to be. I also like that the acronym of Running In Paradise makes. R.I.P... fitting since a couple of years and 60 pounds ago that's basically what my doctor told me was going to happen if I didn't change my lifestyle. I also thought the R.I.P. would serve as a reminder to keep trying to better myself each and every day. I have came a long way since my first half marathon three years ago. I remember going to the starting line, seeing the thousands of fellow runners and how that made my adrenaline pump. I did everything wrong that morning, but that feeling has kept me coming back for three years now. I know my best races are yet to come.
Lastly, the R.I.P. is in memory of my first blog "Diary Of an ex-Athlete". Fitting that my last blog was on November 10, 2009 titled "Virtual D.O.A. R.I.P.". Although not much will change. Yes, my writing and grammar will be badder than ever. It will still be mainly about my observations while running. With that I say a final goodbye to D.O.A. Peace Out!!! and R.I.P.!!!
Everybody Run In Peace!!!
